How to use the Password Generator

Create an 8-128 character password using browser cryptographic randomness and your selected lowercase, uppercase, number, and symbol groups.

Generate strong random passwords from selected character groups entirely in the browser. The generator uses secure randomness and refuses an insecure fallback, because predictable password output would defeat the tool's purpose.

Input stays in the browser and is not sent to Fieldlet. Do not treat a formatting, encoding, test, or generated value as a substitute for security review.

  1. Choose a password length and at least one character group.
  2. Fieldlet guarantees at least one character from every selected group, fills the remaining positions with cryptographically selected characters, and securely shuffles the result.
  3. Copy the generated password without sending it to a Fieldlet server.

Worked examples

Create a long unique password

Scenario: A user chooses 20 characters with upper case, lower case, numbers, and symbols.

Result: A new 20-character password is generated from the enabled set and can be copied once.

Secure random values select positions without modulo bias, and required-group handling ensures selected categories are represented before the result is shuffled securely.

How the result is produced

Entropy depends on the size of the enabled character pool and password length. Fieldlet uses Web Crypto and unbiased selection; it does not transmit or save the generated password.

  • Longer unique passwords are generally stronger than short complex ones
  • Use a different password for every account
  • Store generated passwords in a reputable password manager

Limitations and common mistakes

  • A password visible in the clipboard can be read by other software or retained in clipboard history.
  • This generator cannot assess a site's storage practices, breach exposure, or multi-factor authentication.
