How to use the Image Cropper
Choose an image, select a free or fixed crop ratio, and adjust the area by dragging, using arrow keys, or entering exact preview coordinates. The exported crop comes from the original full-resolution source.
Select and export a rectangular portion of an image without uploading it. Use free selection or 1:1, 4:3, and 16:9 presets, then adjust the preview crop by pointer, keyboard, or exact coordinate fields.
The selected image is decoded and processed in the browser. Keep the original until the downloaded output has been opened and checked on the target device.
Choose a JPEG, PNG, or WebP image and select Free crop, 1:1, 4:3, or 16:9.
Drag the selection, focus the preview and use arrow keys, or edit the left, top, width, and height fields.
Create and download the crop; Fieldlet maps the preview selection back to the source image dimensions.

Worked examples
Crop a landscape image to square
Scenario: A 1600 × 900 photo needs a centered square social thumbnail.
Result: A centered 900 × 900 region can be exported before any optional resize.
The largest square that fits uses the full 900-pixel height and removes 350 pixels from each side of the width.
How the result is produced
The selected crop rectangle is mapped from displayed preview pixels back to source-image coordinates. Pointer dragging, arrow-key movement, numeric coordinates, and aspect presets all update the same bounded rectangle before the browser draws and encodes the source region.
Crop bounds must stay inside the decoded image
Free, 1:1, 4:3, and 16:9 modes control the selection shape
Arrow keys move the crop and Shift plus an arrow resizes it
Cropping removes content and cannot be reversed without the original
Limitations and common mistakes
A preview scaled for the screen is not the source resolution; coordinate mapping must be preserved.
Animated image input is typically exported as one decoded frame rather than a new animation.
Common questions
Does the preview reduce crop quality?
No. The preview is scaled for interaction, but the crop coordinates are mapped back to the original image before export.
Can I crop without a mouse?
Yes. Focus the preview and use arrow keys to move the selection or Shift plus an arrow to resize it. The coordinate fields provide another keyboard-accessible option.
Does cropping reduce file size?
Often, because fewer pixels remain, but the final size also depends on format, quality, metadata, and image complexity.
