How to use the Easy Grader

Enter the total number of questions and the number missed. Fieldlet calculates the score, correct answers, letter grade, and a quick grading chart.

Create a quick score table for a quiz, worksheet, or test with a fixed number of equally valued questions. It helps teachers and students see each possible number-correct score without recalculating every row.

Fieldlet performs the calculation locally. Compare important academic results with the grading policy published by the relevant instructor or institution.

  1. Correct answers equal total questions minus questions missed.
  2. The percentage is correct answers divided by total questions multiplied by 100.
  3. The table shows how the percentage changes as the number missed changes.

Worked examples

Build a 20-question grading table

Scenario: A quiz contains 20 questions worth the same amount, and a student gets 17 correct.

Result: 17 correct is 85%; each missed question changes the score by 5 percentage points.

The score is 17 ÷ 20 × 100. The table repeats that formula from zero correct through all 20 correct.

How the result is produced

For every possible correct count, the tool divides correct answers by total questions and converts the fraction to a percentage. Equal weighting is assumed for all questions.

  • Percentage = correct ÷ total × 100
  • Points per question = 100 ÷ total questions
  • Choose a rounding rule that matches the class policy

Use the chart only for equal-value items

Every row assumes that each question or point contributes the same share of the total. If items have different weights or partial-credit rules, calculate earned points against possible points instead of treating the assessment as a simple question count.

  • Confirm the total before sharing the chart.
  • Apply the class's own rounding rule.
  • Use the Test Grade Calculator for one specific earned score.

Limitations and common mistakes

  • The table does not model partial credit or questions with different point values.
  • Letter-grade cutoffs vary and should be applied from the relevant syllabus.

Common questions

Can teachers use this while grading a stack of tests?

Yes. The grading chart is designed so you can quickly look up scores without recalculating each paper.

Can the chart be used for points instead of questions?

Yes, when every point is equally valuable. Enter the total available points and read the earned-point row as the correct count.
